Stephanie is a designer maker living and working in Bristol. Her work centres on hand and machine knit. With a wide knowledge of textile processes and an inquisitive nature her work also includes mix media, print, stitch, dye and felt. Working with traditional processes that employ the hand is important to Stephanie’s methodologies, using low and high-tech processes to concentrate on the tactile dimension of the man-made world around us, creating subtle and unexpected twists in our expectations of textiles.
Stephanie lectures part-time at the University of the West of England, Bristol and has recently completed, with a Distinction, an MA focusing on the development of her professional practice. She has shown her work at the national Crafts Council show Origin: The Contemporary Crafts Fair (2011), Bristol City Museum 2011/12 and exhibitions at a range of galleries in and around Bristol. She is a member of two exhibiting groups, Brunel Broderers and iD artist, three research groups Make and Think, Visual Culture Research Group and Hatch.
